how do covens work? Is there any set structure? Are there members that have specific jobs, or are they all just free to do what they please (within the coven guidelines). Are there coven guidelines?

`I think every coven has their own rules and guidelines. Some might have specific jobs others might let you do what you want but from what I understand and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, they usually have a common goal in mind.

` Covens are run according to their background. Eclectic covens make things up as they go and put together (or not) what they are going to do and how they are going to do it.
Traditional covens are run according to the rules and procedures set up by the founders of their tradition, whether Gardnerian, Georgian, Alexandrian, or several others. Anyone who does not have a complete copy of the Book of Shadows of the tradition is not a real member.
Some covens meet for specific purposes. Some meet only to do healings, some only to follow the Esbats and Sabbats, some, only when they need to do a magickal working.
There are as many different kinds of covens as there are people gathered together.
Does that help?

`Covens don't HAVE to have set member numbers, life waxes and wanes just as membership levels will. Some Traditions are number specific however, I was taught that as long as there is Perfect Love and Perfect Trust, numbers don't matter.

`Is it possible to be part of a coven living some members in different places? For instance share knowledge in the web but making the rites far away one from each other? Or is this a contradiction?
